Starting June 3, 2009, Microsoft has launched their new search engine, BING.com. It is rumored they have spent $80-100 million dollars just to advertise their new decision engine....
I don't thing Bing.com can catch up with Google. The Bing homepage is innovative. It has a great design and the images displayed are remarkable. However, at the end of the day, I think simplicity is what counts. Google's home page is not at all fancy. Instead it is very simple and straightforward. This translates to less complexity and more user-friendliness. I think that has to do a lot with its success. Images, different colors, designs, etc. may be great to look at, but it derails focus from the main idea, searching. Also, Google has been on top of its game for a long time now. People have a natural tendency and a natural habit to turn to Google for their search needs. Breaking that tendency/habit is going to be a very difficult task for bing.com.
