Hoping and praying is not enough trust me Brigid. It is time that our leaders realized that natural resources are not personal belongings. And in the case of Gabon, France benefited more than the Gabonese from the shady dealings of Mr. Bongo. {Remember the Elf scandal?} That begs the question: where is the moral high ground of some Western powers in lecturing the developing world on democracy and transparency yet in more ways than one they are part of the rot? As for fair elections Mlloric, I am not so sure. Some exploitative quarters would be so happy to see the continuation of the Bongo policies through the ascendancy of his son to power, the means to get there notwithstanding.
