Tim Lincecum

The Giants young aces Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain, both just 24 years of age, are both having wonderful seasons so far in the first two months of the 2009 campaign.

First, Tim Lincecum, reigning 2008 NL Cy Young Award Winner and 2008 NL All-Star nominee, has found some consistency lately and is riding a 5 game decision winning streak. He is 5-1 on the year and has an E.R.A of 2.96. He ranks second in the National League in strikeouts with 95 and ranks up there with the best in E.R.A as well. Lincecum is coming off of a start where he one-hit a Florida Marlins team for seven innings before allowing a two-run homer in the 8th inning. Overall, Lincecum finished with 7.1IP allowing only 3 hits, 2 earned runs, and 4 strikeouts in the victory.

Next, Matt Cain, only 24 years of age in his 4th full season in the majors, is having an all-star caliber type of year so far and is making his case for the NL Cy Young this year. He ranks second in the NL in victories with 7 and ranks 2nd in the NL in E.R.A. He also is leading the majors in opponent batting average with runners in scoring position at .111. Overall, on the year, Cain is 7-1 with a 2.27 E.R.A and has 2 complete games and has 53 strikeouts in 71.1 innings pitched.

So both young phenoms, Lincecum and Cain respectively, are making their cases for this year's All-Star Classic in St. Louis and not only want to make the All-Star roster, but they would like the chance to pitch and show everyone who they are and what they can do.

I hate to be a jerk, but it looks like all you did was copy and paste stats. You offer very little insight or analysis. Piss-poor.

Oh...actually I didn't copy and paste stats. I actually did research and stated the obvious stats. And doesn't numbers speak for themselves in making a case for All-Star consideration in a sport. Or do you not care about statistics and just analysis and comments of a situation or issue. But thanks for your so-called wonderful critical analysis of the story?!
