A new board of directors has been instituted at the Tema Oil Refinery at the port town of Tema. The 8 member board have been charged with ensuring efficiency at the refinery. At the official of inauguration of the board in Accra yesterday, Dr Joe Oteng-Adjei, Minister of Energy admonished the board to make the Tema Oil Refinery the hub of the West African sub-region as far as Oil refining was concerned. Dr. Adjei maintained that security lapses and commercial activity not related to business at the refinery were hindering the efficiency of the refinery. Dr. Oteng-Agyei also said that part of the inefficiency problem at the refinery was the high number of employees at the refinery. According to Dr. Oteng-Agyei, this problem shouldn't exist since the automated Residual Fuel Catclytic Cracker currently in operations was supposed to operate with less hands. Speaking on behalf of the board, its chairman, Eric Okai, a banker promised that his board would carry out its mandate "We will do what it takes to make sure that we do not let you down."Okai said.
