I don't have much use for Newt GingrichNewt Gingrich, but I will give the man credit for one thing. He knows that if Republicans are ever going to win another national election, they...
If Palin gets the Republican OK to run for president, I will send her a donation. Why? Because she lacks intelligence and thus, Obama will get reelected. Go Palin!! LOL. JerrySatire@aol.com www.Lampoon.net
While Gingrich might realize this, there certainly seems to be a lacking of the unity the party truly needs to forge ahead in 2012. This whole fiasco at the fundraiser creates a lot of issues for this party if they truly want to stand strong to take away Obama's second term. Though Palin was probably a hassle to deal with for those coordinating the event, there are reports she was "disinvited," so as not to take away the glory of a keynote speech by Gingrich.
But you are definitely right: there is no legitimate Republican choice that appeals well enough to moderates. I certainly hope Romney runs again. If the economy cannot get back up on its feet to some degree in these next four years, we need someone who has a bit of business and economic expertise to take control. Pawlenty clearly is going to run, already announcing he won't seek another gubernatorial term, but I'll admit I do not know much about him to make a judgment.
I'm confident Palin will run again also. I don't necessarily think it will excite the base in the right way; however, if she does get the nomination.
If that's what the Republicans need to win then they might as well call themselves liberals. Because Democrats don't have, nor do they talk or need of a "big tent" and there's a reason for that. It's a diversion.
So called "Moderates" are also not as big of a factor as many believe. The true base of a "party" is not moderate. The problem lies in getting the base of any party off their rear end. That's where the winning and losing happens.
By the way, calling people names does your cause no good. It only makes you look childish, your opinion foolish and therefore difficult to take you seriously.
