Jāmnagar : India | 5 months ago

It was early morning , while I was passing through the barren land in the outskirts of the city of Jamnagar, Gujarat and was amused to see the amount of plastic bags lying on those area. One can say that it wasn,t a barren land anymore its a plastic Forest ( Jungle) getting evovled in this areas.

People of Jamnagar and even the most population of Gujarat and India don't understand the danger of this plastic bags which can cause a huge amount of damage to the enviroment. Use of plastic bags with lesser amount of thickness in microns which are difficult to be recycled are very common in use. After using them people just throw it around without the thought in the mind that where this will lead to.

Thou goverment has banned certain plastic bags bieng used in shops, but who is there to check that the law is followed. The local self goverment has no intention to check it out this menace. The local goverment body so called corporation who even cannot manage the drainage system and roads of the city , when they are going to check the use plastic bags. The waste plastic bags are spreading around the city like a poison and they are thrown out in the manners that they even block whatever drainage system available in the city.

Its up to people of the city and the shopkeepers of the area has to become aware of the dangers of the plastic to the environment. Its up to the media and NGO's to make people aware.

Stop using plastic bags otherwise there will be no Green Forest, there will plastic Jungles. BE AWARE

One thing that can be done with unwanted plastic bags is to sweep them up
and burn them in your stove or the backyard rubbish heap if nothing else.
There is too much plastic around us in Tagbilaran, Philippines also but
although recycling exists in this country, the people are lazy to clean
them up. They just throw them anywhere. 9/6/2009.
