Karachi, June: Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Syed Munawwar Hassan Monday urged the Home Ministry to interfere into worsening law and order situation in Karachi in order to ensure peace in the city.<

Talking to media, he said Pakistan Peoples Party did not need to induct an ethnic group in the government as coalition partner as the party had got majority in the general elections. ”If the PPP took this step to avoid blackmailing by the particular party, then it has failed to achieve such objective.<

When asked whether the city needs an operation to restore law and order, JI chief said he was not in favour of any kind of operation by law enforcing agencies, as army operation either it was carried out in Balochistan, Swat and Karachi always developed negative image of the military amongst masses. "Military operation never remained as an option across the globe to ensure peace," he maintained.<

He felt that the government should take all political parties on board regarding law and order situation in Karachi. "Jamaat-e-Islami is ready to extend its cooperation to PPP-led government if it takes right step in this regard," he offered.<

Hassan observed that PPP-led government would earn bad name if it continues ignoring anti-peace activities by a particular party. "For restoring peace in this city, the government has to take stern action against criminal mafia," he noted.<
