Hello to all friends and families of Darras Court, This fire has devastated people's lives by taking away in a matter of minutes what one has accumulated for a lifetime. That hurts....
louisp, thank you for bringing us this story and my prayers go out to those affected by this tragedy. Life is fragile, but possessions, no matter how dear, are just things that we can only enjoy while we're here. Thank goodness nobody was hurt and the residents of Darras Court have such incredible support from you and other caring members of your community. - jongleur
Thank you M. Jongleur for taking the time to write in and for your well wishes for all involved.
I had an earlier article, not sure if you read it; just type in the box for searches, my name louisp and it should show up, thanks and God bless, louisp
To still know that neighbors care and are there for each other is great!I hope you get all the help and support that you are looking for and God bless you!
It's great to hear that everyone is collectively helping out. It's such a terrible tragedy, and I'm sure every effort makes some sort of a difference. Hopefully those who have lost their homes will somehow be able to recover and move forward.
We are doing all we can. Tomorrow, we will have the first bank account open to accept doantions; so if you know any generous sopuls that can affrod to help, that would be much appreciated.
First one is Alterna Savings in Brampton on Queen Street, but I will try to make arragements through all credit unions.
Hello, I am one of the victims of the darras court fire which has devastated my family and my neighbours. We are currently living in a hotel provided by the social services agency. We are trying to figure out the next steps and where we will stay. We have been spending most of our time with a friend of ours who has gone above and beyond to accomodate us with food, clothing etc. I'm still in shock when I see the picture of my burnt house. All that we have worked for and saved a penny at a time through our lifetime was burning right infront of our eyes. I just hope in time they will let us go in to see if we can retrieve anything because whatever is left in that house, is all we've got. I am grateful to god that no one was hurt. To be honest, the only way were are being able to deal with such a tremendous loss is through the support of our friends and neighbours. I cannot thank you all enough for showing your support and kindness in this time of need. Everyone has been so amazing and I am truly grateful. May god bless you all and please remember us in your prayers. Take care of each other. At the end of the day if you have nothing, atleast you have your family and thats all that matters.
Hi Mysoon, I was talking to your Dad today, and I want to say thank you for taking the time to write us in here; it means a lot to me.
I am doing all that I can to organize things that altogether we can you help you out and all families involved.
Your dad was saying that you are Ok until Monday, am I correct?
We are setting a couple of bank accounts for donations, the first one to come on board will be Alterna Savings on queen Str. besides the burger King at the Walmart Plaza, so If anyone asks you where they can donate, tell them about that place.
I have asked two of our senior people from the complex (senior in the amount of time they have been living here) to be co-signers and they agreed; so, Ann-Marie and Carol will be looking after that part.
And yes, Mysoon, you can be assured of our prayers, and you would not believe the outpouring support , prayers, and actions that all of our complex is coming out with; this is the beginning.
Give your Mom and Dad, and your brother Taiseer our best and that you are not alone.
I had a visit from Brian who lived in 122, and he is fine, and even offered to help wherever he could. Also Rudy and Cathy from 134 are Ok and send their regrads to everyone else.
God bless, and keep coming back for info. Your Dad has my ohone number and we will keep in touch,
Hi, My deepest prayers go out to all those whose lives were so drastically affected by Sunday's blaze. I am a teacher, and one of our families have lost their home in the fire. I speak on behalf of my fellow Division Teachers and our students when I say that we will be helping out as much as we can so that these families can begin to rebuild their lives. Thank you for such a resource here to keep in touch with what is happening at your complex.
Our prayers are with you, the Intermediate Division, Cardinal Newman School
Good morning teacher, sorry I do not know your name. A big heartfelt Thank you for taking the time to write in here, and sharing your best wishes along with your offer to help.
By tonight , we will have our first bank account open to receive donations on behalf of our neighboure who lost everything at the Alterna Savings (Credit Union) on Queen Street.
Last night I was talking to a few neighbours as to what we should call the fund, and on a suggestion from the one neighbour across the street from me, Doris, we decided to call "The Darras Circle of Friends Fund", and I have asked two of our most seniors (in time of having lived here) to be in charge of the fund, So, the minute we will have that info, I will distribute it to the Media.
I am also talking this morning to people from Bramalea Baptist church at the corner of Queen and Dixie road to see if they have room for all the furniture and clothes that people are offering.
We will be havbing a meeting Sunday night with all neighbours who want to assist on sunday night to let evryone know where we are at and waht suggestions we have to organize some things such as BBQ-Car wash-auction from donated items, etc ... as a fundraiser.
Can you please let me which child is from your school or have the parent contact me as I need to know ASAP what the immediate needs are for these brave people.
Please let me if I can be of assistance in your endeavours to help and to keep in touch.
God bless you and all of your Division at Cardinal Newman School.
To any and all, I need all sizes of the people wishing to receive donations of clothing as people are asking me what sizes, so, please all concern let me knw.
