Hello to all friends and families of Darras Court,
This fire has devastated people's lives by taking away in a matter of minutes what one has accumulated for a lifetime. That hurts.
The latest I have heard was that the structure was too dangerous even for the fire marshall to go in to investigate. They brought in a large excavator and demolished part of the structure and with the help of the fire department extension ladder were going to see what they could find.
All of the 8 units will be taken down and carted away within the next couple of days.
Just think for a moment how you would feel if you had left behind all your expensive jewellery, your irreplacable photos and all kinds of other souvenirs?
Or, if you had a safe for safekeeping some of these, and you are not allowed to go back in to retrieve these items because of safety reason.
Police did a super job of keeping everyone safe and had to maintain a 24 hr. security to protect the general public from getting too close.
Today I went to the Royal Bank at Bramalea City Centre and Alterna Savings by Burger King at the Walmart Plaza at Airport Rd. and Queen, to ask the managers what is involved in setting up an account for donations all across the branches for the purpose of helping our fellow neighbours that have been devastated.
They both will get back to me. Once, I have this information I would like to find if our board or whoever the majority decides should look after this account. I would like to remain in the communications and photography end of things.
Some suggested getting a big party with BBQ and live music; nice idea; I've already talked to a few people and we can get all food and drinks donated for this project. A lot of people want to help and it shows the unity of neighbours and friends in this area.
I will be talking to the church across the road who were so there on Sunday helping with shelter, food, drinks, all with love and compassion.
Some people are contacting me about donations of clothing, furniture, etc ...
So, we will need someone in charge of coordinating these efforts. Isn't just plain amazing how people get together in time of needs? Ther is no division of any kind, no race, no color, no religion; just plainly people helping their fellow human being.
I also hear the schools want to do something, so hopefully we can coordinate all of these to optimize our resources.
To all people who have left comments from close and far, God bless you and come back often to find out what will be happenning.
If you want to be on a list of someone who wants to donate, or contribute somehow, pleave leave me your e-mail or phone number at louisp@rogers.com
God bless, and we will keep you posted as more info comes in.
