Are you willing to take the chance that what a predominant part of scientists are saying is true? It seems like a bit of a too high stake game for sure. If anything we would have made the earth a better place to live.

if GW is false, the damage is not just money; it is credibility of the whole environmental movement. GW has become the Eco-Iraq. If GW is true, and we do nothing, it is still unclear how bad it will be - a slight warming might be beneficial. Consequently, the undue haste to 'do something' may cost much more than GW itself. Better to let the scientists do science with the overlay of political urgency.
