So finally General Motors is about to announce the tale of bankruptcy. Another company gone with the wind.

I don't think it's an overstatement to say that the future of American manufacturing rests on the eventual outcome of the General Motors bankruptcy. For generations, manufacturing jobs have been the key to a better life for millions of American families. The demise of manufacturing sector would be especially tragic, representing both the loss critical wealth-creating companies and the hope of a Middle Class lifestyle for future generations of Americans.

Shuffling around debt, as we've all learned lately, is no substitute for the kind of real economic activity that the manufacturing sector represents. So it's not just Detroit that has a vested interest in the outcome of the GM bankruptcy.
