LAHORE - Parents of a 13-year old gang-rape victim Kiran Amjad of Arif Wala have demanded Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to provide them justice as the criminals are still at large having the support of MNA Zahid Hussain.
PML-Q MPA Samina Khawar Hayyat and relatives of the victim girl including her deaf and blind father Muhammad Amjad demanded the government to provide them immediate justice while holding a press conference here on Sunday at the Lahore Press Club.
MPA Samina Khawar said that PML-N was supporting its MNA Zahid Hussain and DPO Pakpattan, SP and Medical Superintendent Sagheer Ahmad were providing shelter to the criminals.
Samina demanded the Punjab government to take serious action against Zahid Hussain and provide justice to the poor.
Lahore High Court Lawyer Rana Nadim said on the occasion that murderer Usman Malik along with his friends raped the innocent girl on March 31 and threatened her family not to get an FIR registered in the police station. He said the second medical report conducted by surgeon medico legal showed that the first report was issued forcibly which said the girl was a professional prostitute and died during abortion in hospital instead of sexual assault. During the press conference Muhammad Amjad burst into tears as he was disappointed to get justice from anywhere.
Boy drowned
A 13-year-old boy drowned in River Ravi in Shafiqabad police limits on Sunday.
The deceased identified as Muhammad Saleem was son of a local shopkeeper namely Abdul Ghafoor, a resident of Ameen Park. Ghafoor told the police that his son left his residence along with his some friends to take bath in the river. A few hours later, he said, Saleem’s friends informed him that his son had drowned in the river while swimming and got swept into the water by heavy waves.
According to the police, Rescue 1122 officials and local expert swimmers were immediately called who after hectic efforts recovered the body of the deceased Saleem.
The body was handed to the family without autopsy.
