Scorpions and lungs

Today is the antismoking day and all tobacco products of India would, henceforth, have to compulsorily display the caution on the packets that smoking is injurious to health – not just in words, because of the large scale of illiteracy, but through pictorial displays as well. The design of the warning picture should show a scorpion and lungs and should cover at least 40% of the area of the cover. The Government had earlier suggested the well known design of the skull and crossbones but, there have been second thoughts. Probably there is a thinking that those who are illiterate would find it easier to relate with scorpions and lungs – how they would identity the lungs is another matter! The main purpose is to send out the message - so long as that goes out, no questions would be asked.

CHICKENS LOVE TOBACCO. I found this out once when I found a big stash of
cigarettes wet from the rain once. I gave them to my In-laws who are bad
smokers. They dried the cigarettes out in the sun and put them in their sleeping quarters on a window ledge. Some time later there tobacco was missing. we searched and in a corner found it was mostly eaten by chooks.
My solution against smoking is, feed the tobacco to the chickens. 1/6/2009.
