Earthquake Socked North Sulawesi, Indonesia
Indonesian earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale socked North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, 101 kilometers northeast of Bitung sea, at 10.34 local times on Sunday, May 31, 2009.
Indonesian National Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) Office said that, the earthquake did not cause of the tsunami, because the epicenter was located at 138 km northeast of Manado (North Sulawesi), 179 km northwest of Ternate (North Maluku), 217 km southeast of Tahuna or 261 km southwest of Melonguane (North Sulawesi)
The earthquake in North Sulawesi is just follow by similar earthquakein the last Friday, May 29, 2009, when an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale hit Gorontalo province at 2.33 local times. Gorontalo province is neighboring borderline province of North Sulawesi province.
