Locals refused to administer polio drops to children In Khyber, Landikotal. The government is not interested to solve our basic problems. Iran Khan said, health department FATA should ensure availability of other vaccines at the doorsteps. “Health officials are active in polio campaign just to make money,” “they are not sincere to help the poor tribal patients in FATA”, Khan said. “Agency surgeon should ensure justful distribution of bed nets among the tribal people of Landikotal to protect their children from mosquitoes” malik Muqadar Khan said. He alleged that agency surgeon’s staff at Landikotal was not honest to distribute the bed nets among the deserving tribal people. “Most of the bed nets have been distributed on the basis of nepotism and among the influential”, malik criticized. Iran Khan said that if people have refused to let the agency surgeon staff to administer polio drops to the children in Khyber areas of Sultan Khel and Niki Khel, it is all due to the apathy of the government to provide potable water and electricity which is off for the last more than one week. Iam proud to expel the polio workers from my hujra, Almar Khan said. He was of the view that if the government could not provide us with water and electricity then they don’t need to given polio drops to their children.

Agency Surgeon Dr. Ayub Khan on contact told that polio drops had no concern with electricity or water. “Polio drops are essential for the under five children to protect them from disability,”Dr. Ayub said. He said that improper and unfair distribution of bed nets would not be tolerated. Committees would be formed for the fair distribution of bed nets in Khyber Agency,Dr. proposed. He requested the local people to cooperate with polio workers to administer polio drops to their children. He assured that other vaccines would be provided at their doorsteps in the dispensaries.
