In the midst of the turmoil and crisis state going on in the country where issues like rehabilitating IDP’s and Military fighting against Taliban within national borders is all but the highlight of world’s news platforms, I came across an utterly bizarre, rather funny news published in a renowned global news forum. The news is that a wild leopard had been found roaming in the official residence of Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Mr. Yusuf Raza Gilani.
According to the news source, the wild leopard was first spotted on a close-circuit television camera. It slipped in to the garden of the well-guarded Islamabad compound last week, perhaps in search of prey such as wild boar or maybe ‘not-so wild prey’ after all. Prime Minister’s spokesman, Imran Gardezi in response to inquisition, said, “It’s a big animal.” Now, that was one enlightening statement in itself, I’d say.
He also told that the Prime Minster had not left the residence and was carrying on with his duties as usual. Discussing the security measures, he said, “Wildlife officials armed with tranquilizer darts have been trying to catch the leopard. They almost had it cornered on Sunday, but it leapt over a six-foot (1.8 meter) wall topped with barbed wire into another compound.”
The funny part is that supposedly this wild leopard had been freely roaming in the official residence of the Prime Minister for a week now and hadn’t been caught yet. Either the intricate vastness of the residence is so complex that the hunter parties feel like lost in a labyrinth to hunt down the leopard or it’s just the mere incompetence of the hunting teams to scan the area and capture the animal. Or another assumption could be that the wild leopard is way too clever to beat the intelligence of human minds to capture it. So, which one of the above is the real excuse for the delay; well, whichever you wish to believe!
