Dear President Obama:
In a few days or hours you will be appointing a new United States Supreme Court Justice, and before you do, please read this letter. Thank you.
Our United States Constitution states how we should elect our President, Senators, and Representatives, but, from what I can read, there is no mention on how to appoint, elect, select, or other qualifications for a United States Supreme Court Justice.
Many people assumed that you must select a lawyer to become a United States Supreme Court Justice---only a lawyer would d qualify. This is the question: If a non-lawyer is very well versed in Constitutional Law, law reasoning, and is an excellent legal and non-legal writer, could he or she be legally appointed to the Supreme Court Bench, with Congress approval?
Year ago, in outline areas of towns, there were Justice Of The Peace, non-lawyers, who were well versed in the law and handled most of the small cases, which occur in their jurisdiction. Therefore, if they were qualified to do this legal work, there must be people who are qualified to become United States Supreme Court Justices and who are not lawyers.
As I said earlier, Mr. President, why can't you appoint a non-lawyer to the bench, who is a well versed in Constitutional Law.
Sincerely,
Syndie
