Although just newly appointed as UN Special Envoy to Haiti, Ex-US President
Bill Clinton has hit the deck running. He is spearheading a new UN venture
announced in Paris today that will allow airline passengers to donate a $2
charge to their "electronic" tickets to help with 3rd World Medicine needs.
Under the painful acronym LIFE (Leading Innovative Financing for Equity)
the program hopes to start in January 2010 and is already in operation
on some airlines. Just like one can opt to put a little in the "Food Bank"
Kitty at your neighborhood Supermarket; the program should help raise
much-needed funding for world-wide Malaria & AIDS Treatment Programs.
With many countries economically "strapped" by the Global Fiscal Fiasco,
this is a ray of light for those in dark corners of the world where Sustenance
and Medicine means Life or Death. Much like the "Carbon Tax Credit" system
to encourage Innovative Energy use; this Program holds Promise out to
those in most need in the form of a small donation from them that can well
afford it!
