Sioux Protest Hog Farm on Res Land
A newly empowered American Indian Movement (AIM) is staging a nonviolent protest today at the Yankton Sioius Reservation. An agribusiness venture plans to build a 7,600 hog farm on a piece of non-tribal deed land in the center of the reservation. In allowing this venture to go forward, the state is disregarding tribal land sovereignty and the environmental devastation caused by hog farming.
