This Thing called Election

Election in the Philippines is crazy. All sorts of people -- famous and infamous -- want a government position. First, Manny Pacquiao (the world-class boxing champion) is aiming at a seat in congress. Now, the ousted actor-turned-president, Joseph Estrada, has the face to say he's running for president --- again. This is exactly the reason I am not a believer of suffrage. Voting for the lesser evil is simply not my obligation. Pacquiao better put himself where he belongs -- to the ring, not to the congress. He should know when to stop with his crazy desire for more power. Estrada better keep himself off politics. He has never proven anything anyway when he was president. He just made himself a funny creature sitting in Malacañang before he was forced to step down due to politically motivated "people power." The political parties ought to think of the future of the country in selecting their candidates for the coming election. They should give voters a good reason to go out and vote this coming 2010 election. This thing called election determines the future of 86 million Filipinos. Entrusting key government positions to the famous and infamous is simply a crazy thing to do.
