Twenty-five members of the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's largest opposition group, were sentenced to up to 10 years in jail on charges of money laundering and terrorism by a military court on Tuesday. Human rights groups have called for the men to be released and retried in a civilian court. Many have taken these convictions to be further proof of the Egyptian authorities' overt attempts to thwart the main opposition group that poses the most threat to the power of Hosni Mubarak's, who has been president for more than a quarter century. Egyptian authorities have rounded and detained more that 800 Muslim Brotherhood members so far this year alone.
