In Detroit were celebrating the inception of our newest Mayor, Businessman and former NFL player Dave Bing. The election season came earlier than much would have preferred. The former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, left office sort of abruptly due to an indictment which lead to he and his chief of staff being convicted and sentenced to 100 days in jail along with a one million dollar fine for 11 consecutive felonies.

The celebration isn't much of a celebration concidering the fact that Detroit has been on a consistent economic decline for over 30 years. Speculators suggest that the decline is bottoming out, but even the speculation has been around for decades. The truth of the matter is this there is no bringing back the past. All that we can do or expect of Detroit is a more acceptable place to call home. When industries emerge the only people around are those that play a role. People come afterwards and populate the new emerging community. When the opportunity leaves so does the capable people. Those that are educated, as well as the investors. As a result the political planning for the future of the citizens in such a region takes on a different direction.

Nothing ever comes from a failed city but a ghost town. This is not intended to promote defeatist thinking, only to remind readers that although the economy is big news for America, it's old news in detroit. You could either use your own recall or look at Michigans economic growth stats, then examine it region for region. This not only shows you the consistent decline of Detroits economy but also the growth of small and new towns due to new industry and relocated industries.

Where industry booms it is paramount to invest in quality education. Education is the greatest means by which a city or states future can mature and blossom. It is evidenced by the closing of Detroit Public Schools that no dollars, government or otherwise are being allocated. The positive Future of Detroit is simply a small friendly town, with a colorful history. Small businesses will continue to sprout and bring jobs, the citizens will begin to take on a new pride in home ownership and this will be evidenced by the manner in which they care for their homes and assist in crime prevention.

I'm sorry for being unable to see Detroit being leader amongst the States in the Union for economic growth and power, but the history of great innovators will forever inspire new generations excell.
