give'm Lotteries, Pornography and Spectator Sports..that'll keep'em
busy (or distracted!) Personally, I can't compete with the "Chatter".
The "competition" to compete with sensationalism and celebrity is
more than this scribe can bear! Although the term "Slydog" has an
historical connotation as someone devious and cunning; I'm afraid
I no longer "fit in"! "Farming" my stories out to other sites has met with
chants of "mercantile deviouness" & disgust...Kowtowing to the lower
form of "sensationlism" tends to demean what I really mean to write about
& "competing for viewership" tends to diminish both credibility and principles;
I am left little choice but to bow to "Vox Populi" and admit a kind of defeat.
Every dog has its day..and I thank Allvoices for a brief bask in the sun of
expression!

We all get discouraged, Andy. But showing up is half of it. You've got talent. I enjoy reading your posts. I do hope you'll stay with it.

Mech04 became my fan today & when I saw thousands of hits on a
Helicopter Hotel vs my own story of an important election where I live..well, what can I say? I ain't "givin' up" as you describe it..
I'm just voicing my feelings..and they're honest ones! You've done it
yourself. Perhaps it IS like turning a big boat around and takes time.
Many "small" stories on Allvoices carry so much weight and then others
get the attention. You can lead a horse to water; but you can't make it a duck..right? No..I'll continue to write..but I believe I'll cease
to be "competitive" about it..just voice the stuff that's important
to me and hopefully others! I just wanted to get it off my chest..
this fickleness of interest. I carry NO animosity towards the big hit stories that tend to either tittilate or attract viewership; I only
get disgruntled at our collective choices in these matters.
When I said Finis..I meant competing..NOT submitting! Love Ya!

Thanks for clarifying. I understand now, and I agree that there's no trick to getting pageviews by writing sensationalized crap, posting goofy or pretty pictures, outlandish stuff, "sex sells," etc. That is what tabloids are all about. I'm grateful to Allvoices for giving us a forum to print an alternative to the mainstream media corporate storyline. I am sad when I see it used for tabloid level publishing.
Glad you're not going to compete with that sort of level; it sounds like a healthy choice. And, yes, I too wish that the general population was looking for substance rather than titillation. So I understand where you're coming from now, and I'm glad you'll continue to write substantive and creative posts.

Never underestimate the tinderwittedness of people. We've been carefully trained and conditioned to a seventeen second attention span. Gawd forbid we should have to think! Wot? Me think? Wasn't it Pogo who said "I haz seen the enemy and he is us"?

write for the pleasure & the story. Like a good "Kick at the Can"
I shall endeavor to put passion and punch behind writing what I know
and feel and observe...I'll be poor,but honest and most probably
be happier! So writes the Fickle Finger of Fate...( which is
usually extended from mid-hand and goes up & down!):-0
