Before the weekend had begun, schools and colleges in the capitol and other major cities across Pakistan received threats. The terrorist organisation involved threatened the lives of school children causing mass panic. the govt. not willing to take a chance that might endanger children ordered educational institutions to be closed immediately.

On one side of the country protests and riots after days of strikes in Baluchistan province, have broken out as a result of political assassinations. 16 more people have been reported killed and even with the security forces present the death toll is expected to rise.

The US senate is dictating new terms in return for the aid its has offered. Pakistan a so called agricultural country, fails to meet the need of its in own people is loosing ground in a world in recession. Although billions of dollars are received in aid, people see little of it being put to use. A ever growing militant situation deems necessary the relocation of more funds to the defence budget. The army leadership is proving to be competent and reliable.

The attacks on the police training center threw light on the fact that the police force is far from being affective. The men deployed out side the occupied facility were holding their assault rifles incorrectly and after the stand off ended fired all their existing ammo in the air in a show befitting the Huns.

The peace treaty in the Taliban controlled Swat Valley seems frail and close to falling apart after the genral public of Pakistan protested against the public shipping of a 17 year old girl 'convicted' of having gone to the market with her father-in-law. The militants have taken multiple stands, some defending the act, some accusing the Govt. of having faked the video and some saying its an old event so it doesn't matter anymore.

A recent drone attack by the US got little attention as it has now become an everyday happening. The attack, one of dozens, has left a few dead.

Afghan nationals are being arrested from all over the country. Any one who appears to be even slightly suspicious is arrested. This strategy, one of many, may just prove useful, but with the remnants of thousands of Afghan refugees still present in Pakistan, may require more manpower then applied.

As the attacks against Pakistan increase and the leadership is locked in its own political fights, the common man is left to fend on his own.
