After the double elimination last week where the couples did not get the chance to improve their scores, the dance off returned this week for the couples in the bottom two. Despite having the lowest scores Steve-O and Lacey were saved by the fans; as was the dancing rodeo champ Ty Murray and Chelsey Hightower. But comedic actor David Alan Grier and football star Lawrence Taylor did not fair as well and found themselves in the bottom two where they would be dancing for their lives.
David and partner Kym Johnson scored a 22 for their Viennese Waltz that Carrie Ann Inaba said looked disconnected; while head judge Len Goodman was pleased with the performance. The second time around the couple improved their scores by two points with a 24 in a dance that Carrie Ann said looked connected and Len said that the dancers had improved.
Fottballer Lawrence Taylor and Edyta Sliwinska performed a Paso Doble that had Len proclaiming he didn’t know if Lawrence scared the bull, but he scared Len; Bruno called Lawrence the prince of darkness; and Carrie Ann said that they changed the rules of football because of Lawrence. Despite the praise Lawrence and Edyta only scored a 20 and when they performed the dance for the second time; the couple again scored a 20.
Even though he improved his dance scores with the second chance actor David Alan Grier, who remarked that they had planned ahead of time to appear in the week five dance off, found himself the one going home.
NOTE: Apologies for the brevity (and any mistakes), atmospheric conditions prevented my television from receiving the signal; I listened to the program via a telephone.
