Better because science has introduced all these new inventions that have greatly improved travel times, industry and health. Yet worse because some of these same inventions have ended lives, shortened lives and caused havoc that would have been unheard of in the 19th century.
So it's a case of whether the cost is worth the benefit or not. Are our health improvements worth the ones wrought by smog and other damaging toxins? Is our happiness worth the health problems of lack of exercise that we will endup with later in life?
i think we dont need it but it makes the money go around. i wonder what people would do if all the cell phones deactivated, wouldnt that be hilarious. kind of like when a cell tower goes out and the retail stores are packed with people only to find out there is nothing anyone can do, hilarious. did you know ipods can cause hearing problems? i love the computer but i only use it for personal use not business so i wouldnt care if anything happened to it, it is a major resource for information tho. video game systems are a must, they keep kids off the streets.
It just seems like things have changed a lot. Surely we are very technologically advanced and we can predict the future and we can save more lives...but the way i see it , every generation is in awe. In the 1800's i believe that people were amazed that industry was booming, railroads and steamships were created, and more cities emerged. In the 1600's they were amazed by horsepower, building materials, gov't and clothing, and medicine.
The world today, i like to take steps back to look at the BIg picture: I find it incredible that hosptials have the knowledge to cure deadly diseases, and fight cancer. The television also is a good invention, everyone now can see whats going on around the world at the touch of a button, You can also get storm warnings. However i do not agree that video games/or music players have helped society. Surely it is a form of entertainment. But it has brought so much violence it scared the living sh*t out of me. 7 year olds killing people on the screen, 10 year olds going into a battle, 13 year olds with machine guns....The list can go on. People dont realize What HARM video games bring. It also brings obesity and eye problems.
It's all a question of opinion. Do we live in the present and ruin the future, or do we live for the future and "ruin" our present?
