Im a Swedish citizen and also very interested in everything that concerns a human being. I was intruiged by an Iraqi man who behaved very modest and kind towards me on a chat page. I only answered his mails because I believe that one should always be friendly until people have proven that you shouldnt be. After a while I became interested in his story. I learnt that he was going to try to get help from the Swedish Red Cross since he wasnt allowed a residence VISA by our Immigration Office. His cousins and the major part of his family was allowed a residence VISA here in Sweden but not he. Why? The Immigration Office didnt believe his story. He told me about a dead father and two brothers that had been murdered in Iraq. Two brothers are as I write this in Iraqi prisons and his mother lives there in quite rough conditions. He has an education to be a teacher and in Sweden he quickly learnt how to help his fellow country men and others with an arabic origin to speak Swedish. This without really spending any time at all in our program for educating foreigners to interact with us in our own language. He told me, while I went for a walk with him, that he really believed that language is the key to a new environment and a new country. Everything about him felt sincere and nothing about him made me wonder if he was a liar or a dangerous Iraqi male that would want to change our country into an Islamic Republic! Im not that blind that I would miss if a person is a liar and this made me question our Immigration Office a whole lot. My father has worked for our state as a Civilan Officer in the army and for UN in Bosnia and he also works for the Immigration Office to help immigrant youth to adapt to Swedish circumstances. My question is simply this, how can government officials question if a man is from Iraq and telling the truth when several of his family members are considered trustworthy? I dont really get it . To me its all down to the basic and ugly business of money and power. You must be DAFT if you judge a man out of reasons that dont have any connections with truth. Well, I guess this isnt an unusual case in this great big world of ours but I have let it affect me and I cant resist to keep in touch with this Iraqi and hope for the best ,now that he has been forced to go to Denmark since he isnt welcome here right now. Sincerely Yours Deborah

Nice to hear from you! Perhaps the officials are privy to info not at your disposal. Mind you, I myself have seen how one can get a "black
mark" against you through innocuous circustance and faulty/prejudiced
scorekeepers. Keep the Faith!
