A policeman who was off duty went to a cafeteria in the Plaka area in Athens. The man got in an argument with the owner of the place. While they were arguing the policeman took a gun out of his bag and shot the owner in his chest. Fortunately the owner of the cafeteria was immediately transported to the hospital and is out of dager. The policeman gave himself up at the local police station. Questions remain why the men had an argument.
This shows that when there is no real danger "Uncle Poiliceman" knows how to shoot, but if the streets in Athens are flooded with youngster damaging everything in sight "uncle" is no where to be found.
Store employees are reporting that they called the police during the earlier riots in the centre of Athens, but the police did only show up when the rampaging youngsters had already left.
