After yesterday's shooting, today's wrecking of the city centre a new robbery took place. A 23 year old Polish man tried to rob a bank this time in the Renti area. The man after having robbed the bank escaped on a motorcycle but the police was in the area and started the pursuit through the streets of Pirea. The man found refuge in an old abandoned warehouse and the police surrounded the building. The man tried to escape the building but saw that it was impossible due to the almost 200 policemen surrounding him. The man is said to have a firearm and a handgranate. At this moment the man threatens to commit suicide. The police is negotiating with the robber.

The robber has surrendered. But the point is that the police again couldn't do their job as they are suposed to do. There is a general outcry amongst the Greek population concerning the "non exsiting" police force.

There's really a police problem in Greece? It doesn't seem like it, especially since "200 policemen" surrounded the criminal. I don't think this case reflects the "non existing police force" you speak of, but I'm unaware of the situation. What's wrong with the police departments in Greece?
