The African Film Festival known as FESCAPO handed out awards
for top African films in Burkino Faso over the weekend. The winning
film that cantered off with the Gold Stallion Award was TEZA a moving
film about the "Red Terror" campaign of Mengitsu Haile Mariam's era
as a leader of Ethiopia following the coup that ousted Emperor
Salassie in the mid-1970's. The film addressed emigration, racism and
the role of Women in War. The director was not there to receive the
award.
Second place trophy went to the South African film " Nothing but the
Truth" while Third place was won by the Algerian comedy "Masquarade"
