Pop star MIchael Jackson announced Thursday in London a multi night apperance at the O2 Arena. Scheduled to begin July 8, AEG Live and Jackson have agreed to 10 concerts with an option for an extension to 20 or 25 concerts if ticket sales warrent more shows. Being billed the "final curtaincall" Jackson stated that the O2 Arena shows will be his last, at least in the city of London.
The Las Vegas style "residency" has sparked the careers of other artists such as Prince, Take That, the Spice Girls, and Kylie Minogue. Popster Britney Spears has also booked the famous venue as a part of her current tour.
When asked about Jackson' health and ability to play an extended series, AEG Live represenatives stated that Jackson had passed a four and a half hour physical examination by independent doctors. Officials said that Jackson is fit, focused, and sane.
In other Michael Jackson news; the auction house Juliens is scheduled to hold an auction of Jackson's personal belongings from the singer's Neverland Ranch. Jackson gave his permission for the items to be removed from the home but said that the famous auction house could not sell the items until Jackson gave his permission. Juliens stated that they had no other intention but to sell the items when they were taken from the property. But only a few weeks before the start of the auction Jackson's people issued a lawsuit designed to halt the sale claiming Jackson did not give his permission for the sale.
The Jackson catalogue contained some 2,000 items including art, personal items, and awards presented to Jackson. At this time the state of the auctin is unknown.
