Iran can make "big" movies if it steps up investment in the marketing of its films, the head of the Hollywood industry body that organises the Oscars said Tuesday.
Sid GanisSid Ganis, president of the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said Iranian cinema was "serious and has the potential of making big movies", the official IRNA news agency reported.
Ganis, a member of a Hollywood team visiting the Islamic republic, said in a lecture to Iranian film makers that the industry "has to have good marketing and also spend a good deal of money on marketing," the agency said.
The delegation, which also includes Hollywood actress
Annette BeningAnnette Bening, is in Tehran for a week-long visit, a rarity in a country where the authorities brand the United States the "Great Satan."
