There is a glut of dubious tabloid crap posing as news and input on
Allvoices.Of course the readership gravitates towards this like flies
to honey...which, I suppose is human nature. But, personally, I think
it demeans the intent of the program. (ie encourage dialogue thru
interaction with communities around the world addressing important
issues et al) Is this too SLY to understand. Or should I go through
the Tabloids each day and post the most graphic and/or silly pictures
I can find and compete with others to get the "Hits" with them?

Coming back to our discussion. Well as for allvoices is concerned, it hasn't defined any particular sets of news that a community member needs to post. It says you can post anything that you feel is news, whether that be a paragraph, an image or a video....

Just like you are free to post your news so am I. Democracy you see. At least I don't post crap such as Oscar Live Streaming, India Vs Sri Lanka Live Streaming, English Premier League Live Streaming...

Even in a news paper, I don't know how it is in Canada, but, here in South Asia, you will have different segments in one single newspaper. You can have Politics, World News, Entertainment, Humor etc... Else we wouldn't have magazines and paper like 'The Sun,' 'Playboy'......

You can well go through the tabaloids each day and post what you want unless that's not lewd or unpublishable. No one's going to stop you mate, well, not at least me!

No hard feelings.. Chill.. just explaining you things, which I am sure you already know...

Hey cool..your point is well taken. I suppose I am more frustrated
by the fact that hard news of creative writing of any kind is
relegated to second string and popularity over the "sillier" stuff.
I suppose we all need some relief from the hard-ass world that
rages against us. Yes..Art & Culture must be determined in the
Marketplace in the final analysis. It just behooves to see substance
trumped by sillyness such as models falling on walkways and badly
mis-shapen people get the gold & glory. Oh well..sour Grapes &
spilt milk...just voicing my Democratic opinion. By the way, my name is Andy!

Hey Andy, at the end of the day, all that matters is what is liked by those who read the news. I would say probably the people who read crazy, weird and wacky stuff are more than those who read serious news. But then everyone likes to read about something that is strangely bizarre. What becomes a hit is actually what the readers prefer to read, I say! :-)

Look, I've been in allvoices for the past 4 months. And there were times when I've got a total of '3 views' for my news in a span of 24 hours, and yet I kept quiet. Cause what was there to be so frustrated about? Now if people don't come and read my news I can't force them or drag them can I?

So, andy take a chill-pill and continue to report buddy!!!!

I take this under advisement..and yeah chill-pills allround. I have
to turn a blind eye to trickery like "worlds biggest spider" lead
because it gets hits with people anticipating a huge spider..right.
I can swallow my pride and take the slings and arrows etc.
Perhaps it is sour grapes to bemoan another stories popularity and
perhaps the competitivness is a good thing to thereby enhance the
general quality and readership. I dunno..it just seems the incentive
for money from "hits" has a devolutionary asprct to it.I'll swallow
my pride..BUT as you said.. Democracy is saying what you want...

for the time being if you are so much concerned, why don't you go and first clean up the mess these 'Live Streaming' people are creating.. And you don't seem to have a problem with them at all....

And for your information Andy, Allvoices isn't my 'Bread and Butter.' We are established people in our own respective domains. I am a Computer Engineer by profession.... I just got interested with the innovative idea Allvoices came up with.. Else there are a hell lot of ways to make money through the internet.. but they are so cheap.. and dull.. You know what I mean don't you...

If those news weren't getting hits, it looks like you wouldn't seem to have a problem...

The matter is as clear as it can be.. 'Those news have got views and you haven't..... Hence all this inconsequential problem... Else I am sure you wouldn't have even bothered....
