What significance do these mummies have anyway? Do they come to life like that in the movie?

The significance of these mummies is to find the real history of egypt and it is mainly usefull for finding how to preserve human bodies or any other things for a longer time with out decaying.

Mummies doesn't come to life as shown in films because those films are for commercial purpose where the director and his film team make money by fooling people from showing some irrelavent aspects of these from their imagination.
