    Excellent and infromative report. I remember Joe Gilliam from my childhood, but I didn't know about Harris and Dickey.

    I remember well the day Doug Williams won the Super Bowl with the Redskins, and I remember thinking it was quite the irony that the first black quarterback to win the Super Bowl was playing for a team called the "Redskins." I was also very happy to see that old, ugly myth about the inadequacy of black QBs being buried once and for all.

    thanx for the kind words; what a lot of folks don't know was that Hank Stram and Kansas City wanted Dickey to run his famed "Offense of the 1970s" - and that Al Davis only took Dickey to cock-block Stram;

    Although Davis, Stram and the others in the AFL were about playing players from whatever school, Davis knuckled under to pressure, as well as San Diego did over Harris...
