When the world is hit by a massive meteor of recession that has taken down many stock exchanges, devastated economies and forced corporations to job cuts and literal melt downs, one country in the world remains strong and fights the recession demon with a bang.

Recently the Queensland Department of Tourism (QDT) inaugurated their brilliant attempt to promote tourism in a small island across the Great Barrier Reef. It’s called ‘The best Job in the world’ and inarguably so. QDT is offering one lucky winner through a competition to stay at this breath taking island, with full accommodation paid, and write a blog about his/her adventures. The treat does not end here; QDT offers the winner of this international competition AU$150,000 (roughly US$ 97,600) with it.

The competition is reasonably simple all that the applicants have to do is to log on to their website islandreefjob.com and fill out an application form and along with a 60 second video, that best expresses the reason why they are the most suitable candidate for the job. Eleven of these short listed candidates will fly off the Queensland, Australia, for the final interview and one competent winner gets a 5 star accommodation at the island reef.

The dream job is a great idea to generate good public relation for the tourism in Australia, especially now the QDT has received more than 10,000 applications; it sure has managed plant the seed of inquisitiveness in the curious human mind throughout the world. A venture like this purely survives on exceptional execution and a clear picture of the targets that have to be achieved. Applications close in 16 days and sometime in May this year the winner will be unveiled. As for the Aussies, they sure know how to deal with recession, mate!
