Cops beating girl

Imagine a 7 year old girl, innocent and unassuming, being beaten mercilessly in front of a police station. You cannot, can you? Even if we could imagine such a thing could happen, wait for this spectacular calamity:- a policeman beat her up!!

This police officer (God knows how he became one), in a shocking brutal act, slapped and pulled the small, minute girl by hair remorselessly, in full view of the public. After the Indian News channels caught this behaviour on tape, he has been identified as, Shamlal Yadav, a senior sub-inspector of Uttar Pradesh. He claimed she had 'stolen' Rs 280, an amount of $5 and 80ish cents. Later, it was known that the mother of the child had given the amount to her for her to buy new clothes.

What transpired in the town of Etawah in Jaswantnagar police station forced the Chief Minister of the State of Uttar Pradesh to act immediately and fire the cop and also the station house officer (SHO) Chandrapal Singh and circle officer along with the accused.

Such human rights violations and criminal cases are ample in India, most of them uncovered by the local media. Where is the security siutation heading in this country? A week ago, it was girls who wanted to have fun being molested, beaten up and chased out the pub by radical fundamentalist hooligans calling themselves the Shri Ram Sene.

That's what I call misusing the power!
There's a story kind of thing I heard a week ago about a girl in the U.S., who was told by her mother to ask policemen for help if she needed any, rather than asking any passer by.
Well, that doesn't apply anymore anywhere now, does it?

Hmmm....True, such acts of violence take away our trust on these saviors of law and order. But then, there are black sheep everywhere in every herd and just a few of them may spoil the reputation but doesn't make the entire population bad, right! Sad to hear this news, though!
