The House Strikes Down Digital Switch Delay

The Senate passed the bill to delay the switch from analog to digital, which moved to the house, where it was shot down. Obama asked that a delay for the switch from analog to digital be delayed because so many people still do not have the converter boxes needed to view analog TV's.

Since the coupons for the converter boxes are no longer available, people will have to sign up for cable, DirecTV or Dish satellite to have television in their homes or businesses. Another solution would be to buy a new TV, which could be impossible for many. The best solution would be to buy the $60 converter box now.

Everyone knew this was coming. There was enough advanced notice. There is no reason to delay something that was so publicized over the last couple of years. People that do not have their TV's ready will lose their signals and their ability to watch TV in February.

Just because the money in the government fund for converter box coupons has run out does not mean you have to sign up for cable, satellite, or buy a new TV.

You can still go out and buy a $60.00 converter box on your own (without the $40.00 coupon). That's a whole lot cheaper than all the alternatives you listed.

That is very true, but then why haven't people done that. This entire delay process was because people weren't ready. Well if they don't want the converter box, they do have other choices such as what I mentioned. I will add that as a choice.

Seems like all the success and technology that had reached the last gear now is suddenly starting to reverse.

Well, those who weren't ready weren't going to go for it anyway! I think it was a good decision to go ahead with it, because the people who want digital should get it, and not be delayed on behalf of lazy people or people who weren't gonna go for it anywya!

i guess most technology shifts come at a cost. Whether it was from amps to GSM in mobile services or from analog to digital! Technology shifts are always faced with resistance
