A man has been fired from his job - because he uses water instead of toilet paper.

Amador Bernabe, 43, is a machine operator in Townsville on a working visa from the Philippines, the Townsville Bulletin reports.

On Thursday, he claimed that his foreman followed him into the bathrooms questioning his toilet hygiene.

And later, Townsville Engineering Industries (TEI) the organization, Bernabe was employed with, fired him over 'un-Australian toilet habits'.

"I went to go to the toilet and I took a bottle of water when my foreman saw me and he said, 'you can't bring the water in there'," News.com.au quoted Bernabe, as saying.

"I said it's my personal hygiene. I didn't break any law, I didn't break any rules of the company, why can't I do this, and he said he would report me to the manager," Bernabe said.

Following the incident Bernabe was called to the manager's office, after which he was fired.

"He asked me what had happened and I explained to him and he said if I didn't follow the Australian way I would be immediately terminated and I said 'sir, then you better terminate me'," Bernabe said.

This is OUTRAGEOUS?!?!!? I think everyone should wash themselves though, and it should be the other way around actually (that people should get fired for NOT washing themselves, haha!) But this is pretty crazy. I like your postings, Inventive! Keep it up!

sorry, i just saw this post! I actually agree with johnnyg but I have one question...if toilet paper is available than why use water??? anyways, what a sad way to end your job contract.
If he ever applies for a work visa than the embassy people will ask him about his previous employment and the cause of his termination. Really bad indeed!

...if toilet paper is available than why use water???

>> Do you believe that toilet paper is enough hygiene-wise? I don't. At least with water and soap.
