In an open letter to Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, the 47-year-old father and soon to be President of United States of America told his daughters that he ran for president only for them and all other children.
The letter was published in Parade magazine, a weekend newspaper color supplement. Obama said in the letter, “When I was a young man, I thought life was all about me -- about how I'd make my way in the world, become successful, and get the things I want. But then the two of you came into my world."
"I realized that my own life wouldn't count for much unless I was able to ensure that you had every opportunity for happiness and fulfillment in yours. In the end, girls, that's why I ran for President: because of what I want for you and for every child in this nation.” The soon-to-be President dad wrote.
Dreams like providing equal opportunity to go to university regardless of family financial standing, challenging and inspirational schools and well-paid jobs with suitable health and pension benefits that could lead people to “Retire with dignity,” were part of Obama’s wish list for all children.
Obama wishes to “push the boundaries” of discovery in order to develop new technologies and inventions to improve lives and environment. Obama shared his belief that United States has reached "beyond the divides of race and region, gender and religion that keep us from seeing the best in each other."
One line that I really like was where he shared his desire to send young Americans to war "only for a very good reason," and that very good reason is to settle differences with other nations peacefully.
"These are the things I want for you -- to grow up in a world with no limits on your dreams and no achievements beyond your reach, and to grow into compassionate, committed women who will help build that world," He wrote, "And I want every child to have the same chances to learn and dream and grow and thrive that you girls have. That's why I've taken our family on this great adventure."
A sentimental, yet truly inspirational letter of its kind, filled with love and pure feelings of a father. A letter that explains to the young girls what their great father envisions about their future and the future of their fellow children. He is the man who came in the name of change and I hope just like his wonderful dreams, he manages to turn them into reality by bringing a harmonious and peaceful change to this world.
