The conflict is no longer about silencing Hamas. It has transformed into a genocide, death and destruction of ordinary and peace seeking citizens of Gaza. While Israel, continues to reject peace talks and escalates the violence by intensifying bombing in Gaza, it is now officially a genocide of ordinary citizens.
Israel has so far shown that they are the most violent, insensitive, and coldblooded nation in the world. Israel these past 60 years, have done more to damage peace in the region than anyone. They were the first people to use terrorism in 1940s to steel land from Palestinians to create Israel. Yes, the first bombs, guns and citizens deaths were caused by Israeli terrorists. In these past many decades, we have seen them snatch even more land from Palestinians (Christians and Muslims both), cleared large swath farmland to make apartments and housing societies for new Jewish settlers, thus taking away the only source of income for thousands of years for Palestinians. It has even made them prisoners by erecting huge walls around the city. Israel has not just become an occupier but a tyrant. It is tragic that, majority of the people in Palestine live on less than US$2 a day and unemployment in some areas is as high as 60% if not more. Israeli policies have turned the people of Palestine improvished, poor and their vibrant communities into a ghetto.
The people of the world are beginning to take to the street to protest the war. London, Paris, Berlin and many other capitals of the world, the concerned citizens have taken to the street. However, as has been the case, it is not expected that Israel will back down. It has already rejected yet another United Nations Security Council resolution that called for immediate cease fire. They have also ignored the peace plan put together by French and Egyptian Presidents. It is quite evident that Israel does not want peace. Prime Minister of Israel, Olmert is determined to continue his violent campaign against Gaza citizens, thus showing his intension to kill and maim more people than work with them towards peace. He should definitely be tried for war crimes and genocide in International Court of Justice.
As long as Israel continues its “Cycle of Violence” in the region, there will be no peace in the region. Hamas is not the problem, but it is the direct policies of Israel towards the citizens of Palestine in Gaza, West Bank and other Palestinian territories.
