OAKLAND, CA--Many streets on Thursday afternoon were empty of people by 4:00 p.m.

Word spread like wildfire that more destruction by rioters will take place on Thursday night: Black, white, Chines and other minority groups that have stores in Oakland were scared that rioters would return to do more destruction.

The mother of the boy, who was shot by a BART officer, and other family members pleaded and begged the rioters not to do anymore damage. But the rioters formed--around 8: 00 p.m. Thursday night--and disappeared about an hour later.

Many people, who shop on Thursday night, were concerned about their safety from the rioters. The people who initiated the original protest on Wednesday wanted it to be peaceful, but the rioters--trouble makers( violent anarchists)took over and exploited the peaceful protest.

Again, leaders of the community asked for people to stay home and let the investigators do their job

Destructive rioting isn't the answer. What those officers did to the young man was unnecessary and wrong, and many people have strong feelings about it for good reason, but more violence just makes the situation worst.
