HAPPY NEW YEAR! (We’ll see about that).

With the entire world in turmoil; International and domestic issue upon issue will be debated. The black man riding the white horse may be our first sign of the apocalypse. But the story on whether Obama is the United States’ savior will soon be foretold.

Technology will grow and the rich will get richer, while Big Brother continues to monitor our every move. We’ll complain – they’ll ignore – but the time is ripe for real change if we can make enough noise. Together, we will watch, discuss and be amazed as 2009 unfolds. Bringing in the New Year with a bang;

Charles Barkley was arrested and released within hours on suspicion of DUI -- If only we were all ex-basketball stars when we get pulled over for “driving with a buzz.”

The number one movie was “Marley and Me.” This is a cutesy romantic comedy that pounded high profile stars such as Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise respectively into third and fourth place at the box office -- I guess the romantic comedy isn’t dead after all. Although, it should be.

The Times Square New Years bash left over 40 tons of trash in the streets -- Does that trash include the politicians? Only America’s excessive appetite for waste could cause such a thing. No country in the world can party like us and we have the trash to prove it.

Chrysler gets $4 billion U.S. government loan -- Why, so they can save the company that no one was buying from in the first place? I haven’t seen a Chrysler on the road since my pop-pop’s 57’.

Iraq took control of the heavily fortified Green Zone from the U.S -- Why don’t they take control of the whole rainbow and let the US soldiers go home? How do we know that more innocent people aren’t being killed just because they’re there?

Israeli strike kills senior Hamas leader… Hamas warns it is ready to confront Gaza invasion… Israel bombs Gaza mosque, kills 10, officials say – For my opinion on this, please see my poem at: Repetition-of-Ages.

If you missed the news you’ll see it here in “This weeks Sanity report.”

I guess Charles Barkley gave up on his pipe dream of a post-NBA political career a long time ago and began focusing on adding weight and getting drunk. Maybe he'd been reflecting on losing $10 million due to his gambling addiction and was just drowning his sorrows.

He's also a terrible, terrible, terrible broadcaster. Maybe the networks will keep him out of the booth for at least a couple years after this.

i really liked your poem. I thought i will post it here too for those who like satire. (i hope you don't mind)

Whether it be a bullet’s disease or man’s infinite slaughter
Death is inevitable and right around the corner
Trepid life sanctified in holy waters
In search of a peace, unlocking clandestine behaviors
Cartoon innocence and make believe jackhammers
Unveil the feces in sanctimonious sewers
Regurgitated mouthfuls filling in for leaders
Only speaking truth when challenged by predators
To live, to die, to make blind leaps over lighted fixtures
Land solidly and replace the back’s daggers
The birth of murder, brother on brother
How can one not be appalled while we kill each other
(by timbo)

Romantic comedies lets you see the lighter side of life. Lets not kill em :)
