Phi Helicopter Crash - Helicopter was owned by Petroleum Helicopters Inc

A helicopter owned by Petroleum Helicopters Inc (PHI) crashed around 100 miles southwest of New Orleans, in the marshes along Bayou Penchant. This helicopter was headed to a Shell Oil platform in the South Timbalier 300 block off the coast of Terrebonne, Rovinelli states.

Eight passengers including both pilots were killed and the ninth survived. Details of the eight passengers killed are:

Ezequiel Cantu from Morgan City worked for Dynamic Industries

Charles W. Nelson from Pensacola worked for MMR Offshore Services

Jorey A. Rivere from Bridge City worked for MMR Offshore Services

Thomas E. Ballenger from Eufaula, Ala worked for Petroleum Helicopters - Pilot

Vyarl W. Martin from Hurst, Texas worked for Petroleum Helicopters - Pilot

Beside these killed there was one more passenger who survived - Steven Yelton, who is from Floresville, Texas, and he works Dynamic Industries. He is currently hospitalized with critical injuries.

The cause of helicopter crash is still unknown and is under investigation by Petroleum Helicopters Inc (PHI) and the National Transportation Safety Board.

That's terrible! The families of the individuals who died must be going through some difficult times. I hope the one survivor is able to make a full recovery. I wonder what caused this tragedy.

Yup... it is extremely terrible and the investigation is still on to decide the cause of the crash.

Sad accident. I hope the survived one recovers soon and maybe he manages to recall what happened in those last few moments when the helicopter crashed.
