I didn’t know there was a medical condition called ‘Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation’ until I read about it from Readers Digest. It’s a condition that causes blood to coagulate irregularly, leading to bleeding throughout the body which leads to amputation of dead body parts.

Mike Laforgia was a very healthy 42 year old man who was struck suddenly by this. No one could be positive how Mike got the condition. But he believes that he got infected with meningococcemia—a very scary and deadly disease.

Mike recovered after 7 months, but he lost all his toes of both feet and part of his right foot.

If you want your medical info to be accessed quickly by doctors in cases of emergency, you can load your file at PatientsLikeMe.com.

Another advantage: you can access other files and compare yours. If you see prescription errors, you can correct them. President Obama’s file is there.
