The Sheboygan, Wisconsin Polar Bears will take their annual dive into Lake Michigan on January 1, 2009. There are usually 300 to 400 people that take the polar bear plunge and jump around in the freezing cold waters of Lake Michigan.
This year, the group will meet at Dave's Who's Inn on 9th and Indiana to sign up before the trip to the lakefront. The polar bears can be any age and can wear whatever they want. The only thing you do not want to wear is socks.
If the old timers see you with socks on your feet, they will personally de-sock you. This is a tradition that happens whenever someone shows up with socks on their feet.
Look back tomorrow for pictures and news about what it felt like to take the polar bear plunge in the freezing cold waters of Lake Michingan in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
