Bangladesh Electiion to be held on December 29 is rapidly drawing near . Much debate and discussion is going on in the local TV and press on the out come of the very important election supposed to return the country to democracy again. The election is drawing worldwide attention because of the size of the electorate and the problems faced by the country both internal and external. The interim caretaker government interned many political leaders on charges of corruption but failed to prove the charges for most of the leaders. The government had to let go most of the leaders including the heads of the parties who are now running the country side with motorcade drawing huge crowds that seems to care little for the charges of corruption against the leaders. The people are more eager to vote for the persons of their choice and return to democratic norm .It is difficult to predict out come of the election as the new almost 12 million young voters out of the total of 82 million will decide the fate of the runners for the 300 parliamentary seats. The women voters who constitute more than 50 percent of the total voters will also be a very important factor in the results. Fate of the big parties like Bangladesh Nationalist party led by Begum Khaleda Zia and Awami league led by Sheikh Hasina will be more influenced by new predominantly young village folk than the erudite elite of the towns. However the out look of the rural people changes very slowly which may also influence the election result.
