NASA shuttle

NASA has a fleet of old shuttles and engines that hold limited further value for the agency. One orbiter will be sent to the Smithsonian museum but the others are up for grabs by organizations that NASA feels will be able to maintain and exhibit these feats of American glory.

The shuttles are being described as "free" but the 42 million dollars of delivery charges for shuttles are nothing to sneeze at. You would still be able to get an engine for less than a million.

Of course, if Obama decides he doesn't agree with this disposal plan, no outsider will be getting anything at all.

In addition to the hefty cost, you should realize that without an 8,000 foot runway, you won't have a convenient place to keep the shuttle.
