Lucknow-India: Indian scientists from (CASUAT) which is the acronym for the Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology have claimed to develop a new variety of banana, for people suffering from diabetics. The have stated that the sugar content in this kind of banana is less which makes it consumable by people suffering from diabetics.
One of the senior agro-scientist at CASUAT, G S Gaur said that "In the new variety, we have succesfully controlled the conversion process of starch into glucose, which is a natural phenomenon in fruits containing starch (carbohydrate)."
He also stated that "In the newly developed banana variety, the conversion takes at such a slow pace that there is no considerable rise in glucose level of diabetics eating these bananas."
Everything except the sugar concentration differs between this new developed banana as compared to the normal banana.
"Like its counterparts, the newly developed banana variety is rich in vitamin-B and C, phosphorus, calcium and iron." said Gaur.
But the key point, that makes this newly developed banana unique from the normal bananas is its calorie count. While 100 grams of ordinary banana, has around 650 callories, the same variety of this newly developed bananas contains considerably lower calories.
