Christmas Gifts

According to a survey by National Research Federation, the biggest buying decision among consumers will be price. Keeping in mind the present economic downturn, the consumers will mainly stick to their budgets and look for good deals. As gifts buying represents the biggest chunk of spending budget of shoppers in this season so according to the survey, an average person will spend;

$466.13 on family (down from last year’s $469.14)

$94.52 on friends

$26.70 on co-workers

$43.50 on other gifts

Other than spending on gifts, the survey also estimated an average person’s spending on holiday. That includes;

$51.43 on decorations

$32.43 on greeting cards and postage

$95.04 on candy and food

$22.61 on flowers

Now that makes a total expenditure of $832.36 for an average person this Christmas. Obviously each one of us can further cut down this budget by taking out things that are not required by us. For example a person who has lost job can cut back on co-workers gifts, and a little bit on greeting cards and postage.

Putting all the money matters aside, Christmas is all about sharing happiness; celebrate it with whatever little you have. There is no need for extravaganza. One can do a lot even with very little cash in hand! So, do celebrate a wonderful Christmas this year everybody!

    The extravaganza of gifts, flowers, decorations and postcards is just to show off the wealth. But since this year due to the recession, everybody will be spending lesser than usual, hopefully, it might save the embarrasment that is usually covered up by the cash flowing on Christmas. Shop, keeping the days after Christmas in mind.

    True mominasheikh, this Christmas it is all about how carefully you spend. Or else most of the people will have trouble with the budget after the Christmas celebrations are over!

    True but see, its the human nature. When we're happy, we forget all about the issues that would be forthcoming or are already there. And its not like this is the last Christmas on Earth. There are going to be more people, don't get bent on making yourself broke! You don't want to be out on the streets on new year's eve because it is getting really cold out there!
